In its judgment, the seventh section of the Audiencia de Barcelona condemns Pardo, who fully admitted the facts of which he was accused, to the punishment requested by the Prosecutor for the crimes of attempted murder, sexual assault and robbery with intimidation, and to compensate the victim with 1.1 million euros.

During the trial, the rapist himself accepted the 1.1 million civil liability claimed by the private prosecution, although the Court recognizes that the defendant lacks what assets or income to meet that payment, so the woman can only be indemnified if the contentious lawsuit filed against the Generalitat for the permission granted to its aggressor.

Tomás Pardo kidnapped, raped and attempted to kill the victim with stab wounds, the last of the three days of the prison permit that the Generalitat granted him in October 2016 when he was serving a sentence for a similar attack perpetrated in 2002, an event that reopened the debate on the rehabilitation of repeat offenders.

In fact, the Department of Justice granted permission to Pardo -which the prison supervision court revoked three times until the Hearing gave him the green light- for having successfully passed the rehabilitation treatment for sexual offenders who remained in prison and without that the previous punctual exits that were authorized to him would have been problematic.

The sentence, which is not final, fixes in 30 years the maximum time that Pardo will remain in prison to serve the sentence for this violation and prohibits him from approaching the victim for a period of 95 years.

According to the Court, Pardo, who was arrested on October 31, 2016 as a result of an emergency call that the victim managed to send after being badly wounded, approached the woman, at the tip of a knife, on the morning of October 29, 2016 when He had just entered a vehicle in Igualada (Barcelona).

The defendant forced the woman to drive 53 kilometers to reach a wooded area of ​​Castellbisbal (Barcelona), where he repeatedly raped her and had her hand over the keys to her car and give her the PIN number of her bank card, with which a nephew he extracted after 1,000 euros.

Later, he took her to a ravine next to the Torrent Bo, where after stabbing her seven times, in order to end her life, he threw her into the void from a height of five meters and covered her with branches and dirt to prevent his corpse was found.

The trial for this attack was held behind closed doors, at the request of the victim, as a measure to "protect their privacy."
