Fauda

Fauda or chaos in Arabic is an Israeli political thriller television series, filmed in Arabic and Hebrew.

The series made the leap to Israeli television in the summer of 2016 when it was acquired by the country's Yes satellite television system.

Later, it began airing internationally through the Netflix service, advertised as a Netflix original show, premiered on December 2, 2016.

The New York Times considered it one of the best international series of 2017.

The word" fauda " means chaos in Arabic and is the term used by Israeli occult forces to warn rescue units that have been discovered and that they are Israeli Jews and not Arabs.

Fauda

Fauda was developed by Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff from their subjective experiences while serving in the Duvdevan Unit of the Israel Defense Forces.

The series premiered in Israel on February 15, 2015. It tells the story of Doron, a commander of the Mista'arvim Unit, and his team when they try to catch a Hamas terrorist known as “The Panther."

The first season of the series was filmed in the Israeli town of Kafr Qasim, during Operation Protective Edge.

Israeli actors have served in the Israel Defense Army and several of them had participated in covert operations.

Despite being a fiction, it is based on true stories lived by Lior Raz when he operated locked up.

In June 2016, the series won six Ophir Awards, including "Best Drama Series", at the Israeli Academy Awards.

The Fauda main characters

  • Doron Kavillio, played by Lior Raz (b. 1971). Doron's family consists of his wife (Gali), a son and a daughter. Doron, after leaving the army, remains based on a farm and vineyards with which he tries to make his own wine. Known for killing Abu Ahmad 18 months ago, he returns to his former position in the Israel Defense Forces, having discovered that Abu Ahmad is still alive.
  • Taufiq Hamed, also known as Abu Ahmad, and nicknamed "The Panther", is played by Hisham Suliman (b. 1978), an Arab-Israeli actor. Taufiq is a Hamas terrorist allegedly killed by the IDF 18 months before the start of the series, but who is alive and preparing terrorist attacks, despite even having held his funeral. Taufiq reappears after being in hiding from the time of his death and is seen again by his brother for the first time, as he goes to congratulate him on getting married soon. Taufiq is accused of killing 116 Israelis.
  • Walid The Abed played by Shadi Mar'i (b. 1994), is a trusted man of the Taufiq team, and one of the few who continues to see "The Panther" after his funeral.
  • Dr. Shirin El Abed played by French actor Laëtitia Eïdo (b. 1990), 32 years old, cousin of Walid. His mother is from Nablus and his father is from Paris. She volunteered with Doctors Without Borders in 2006. He studied medicine at An-Najah National University, and currently works in the emergency Department of Rafidia Surgery Hospital. She is a widow, married at the age of twenty-three to a pharmacist, who died four years later of multiple sclerosis.
  • captain Gabi Eyov, played by Itzik Cohen (b. 1968).
  • Mickey Moreno played by Yuval Segal (b.1971), commander of Doron in his former unit.
  • Gali Kavillio played by Netta Garti (b.1980), Doron's wife.
  • Nasrin Hamed played by Hanan Hillo (b. 1983), wife of Taufiq.
  • Boaz played by Tomer Kapon (b. 1985), speaks Arabic fluently, and works with Arabs in the Ministry of Defense. He is Gali's brother and Doron's partner.
  • Naor played by Tsahi Halevi (b. 1975)
  • Nurit played by Rona-Li Shimon (b. 1983), is the only woman in Doron's unit. Even though your function is to stay off the scene, you want to get into action.
  • Avichay played by Boaz Konforty (b. 1974).
  • Hertzel Pinto, also known as Steve, played by Doron Ben-David (b. 1972).
