Living together husbands mummified corpse: A neighbor of Begur (Girona) has lived for more than a month with the mummified corpse of her husband, who is now investigating the causes of death, according to municipal sources.

The Local Police of this municipality of the Costa Brava has located shortly before 7:00 hours of this Wednesday in his house the body of this person of 72 years and British nationality.

While waiting for the results of the autopsy, it appears that his wife, who has been diagnosed with a mental illness and has Diogenes syndrome, has lived with him and a German shepherd dog all this time.

Living together husbands mummified corpse

The death of this person, who has been living in a house in the Begur residential development for years, has been known thanks to the fact that some neighbors have alerted the Municipal Police of the screams of the woman both yesterday night and this Wednesday morning .

At about 6:45 am they gave the warning and a patrol has gone to the house, inhabited for years by a British couple of about 70 years of which they monitored social services.

The agents have known that for days that the woman did not want to maintain contact with the assistants and, on arrival, she has not allowed them to enter the house either.

When asked if they could talk to her husband, she replied that it was not possible, because "since Friday I was resting, sleeping."

This response has led the agents to suspect that the husband was dead, so they have activated the protocol for these cases and have gone to the Mossos d'Esquadra site and to the Medical Emergency System (SEM).

Finally, the woman has allowed them to enter the house, but they have not been able to access the marriage room, the only one in which there was a bed, because a very aggressive dog prevented them from entering.

Faced with this situation, they have alerted the municipal animal protector and, when they have removed the German shepherd with all the guarantees, the agents have found the mummified body.

The state of the corpse indicates that the death occurred several weeks ago, an extreme that has confirmed the coroner, who has determined that the death took place one or two months ago.

The body has been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IMLC) of Girona, where it is expected that this Thursday will perform the autopsy to clarify both the approximate time that had died and the causes, although the natural ones are those that gain more strength as hypothesis.

The woman has been transferred to the psychiatric center of the Martí Julià de Salt hospital park to undergo an assessment of her condition and has agreed to a voluntary admission.

Begur's social services will follow the case to determine what steps should be taken with this person before a possible incapacitation situation.

The Court of Instruction on duty of La Bisbal d'Empordà has taken over the case.
