CES Asia began, one of the most important technology fairs, with the commercial war as background.

New products will be presented for three days to be launched in the Asian market. The disputes between the US and China were present in the opening message.

In the SNIEC (in Spanish, the New Shanghai International Exhibition Center) there are more than 550 exhibiting companies. There CES Asia began today, until June 13, and unlike the Las Vegas version, it is not a global technology show. Its focus is the Asian market, presenting new innovations in the region.

Most important technology fair CES Asia begins

Most exhibitors only speak Chinese, do not understand English or another language. The attendees, predominantly, are Asian. It is his show.

China is the most populated country in the world and its economy is the largest globally. Shanghai is one of the great financial and technological centers of the world. Those are the reasons why CTA (Consumer Technology Association) has chosen to make this Asian version of CES there.

The themes of the fair are similar to the global version of January in Las Vegas, with exhibitors distributed in 5 pavilions. It is possible to find products and solutions in audio, smart home, health, IoT (internet of things), 3D printing, video games, virtual and augmented reality, and vehicles, among others. Artificial intelligence goes through CES Asia and the 5G begins to stomp.

The startup sector (known as Eureka in the Las Vegas version) has a dedicated sector in the Kerry Hotel, located next to the exhibition center. There, there are more than 115 new companies.

As indicated by the organization, in this Asian version there are startups from Switzerland and Norway, for example, countries that do not usually participate in the North American version. Likewise, the space devoted to car manufacturers and companies that develop solutions linked to the mobility of the future (autonomous and digital) has grown.

The opening conference of CES Asia was in Mandarin Chinese and was in charge of Huawei. He assured that his plans to become the world's largest smartphone company will have to be suspended due to the trade war with the United States.

"Now we have to wait a little longer to achieve it," said Shao Yang, the company's director of strategy. On the other hand, while Google will continue to provide updates to the company's smartphones, it is not known what will happen in the future.

Huawei has said it is building its own operating system as a backup, but would like to continue operating in the ecosystems of Microsoft and Google.

Yang said the relationship with Google is "a very complex issue" and noted that Huawei had contributed to Android's open source platform.
