A Rich History

Tibidabo Mountain, standing at 512 meters, has been a sacred site since Roman times and a refuge for Barcelona’s elite in the late 19th century. The iconic Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor church, built between 1902 and 1961, crowns the summit with a majestic statue of Christ overlooking the city. The mountain also hosts the Tibidabo Amusement Park, opened in 1901, making it one of the oldest amusement parks worldwide. The funicular railway, Spain’s first, started operation the same year, connecting visitors from the valley to the peak.
