Woman held 20 days Tortosa apartment freed: Agents from the Investigation Division of the Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 31-year-old man of Pakistani nationality as the alleged perpetrator of an illegal detention of a woman who was detained for more than 20 days in an apartment in Tortosa.

As reported by the Mossos on Sunday, the events occurred on July 17 when agents of the Ebro Lands police region received a notice from Europol about a 42-year-old Slovak woman who had made a call to the Slovak police to report that a man kept her in a house against her will.

The victim had also explained that the abductor, who had threatened her with death if he tried to ask for help, wanted to marry her to obtain European documentation, and that the marriage had to take place two days later.

So that the police could locate her, the woman had reported that from the floor where she was being held she could see a red bridge over a river, and also that inside the house she had found a piece of paper with an address on it. the town of Tortosa.

After several inquiries, the investigators were able to determine the location of the floor where the woman was held and after a discreet surveillance freed the woman and arrested her raptor.

The victim explained to the Catalan police that he had met the man in Slovakia through her brother, and that since they both had to come to Spain for work they decided to travel together.

Once in Tortosa the man revealed his plans to obtain the status of European citizen to which she refused. For this reason the victim had been held inside the house for more than 20 days without being able to leave, and on the few occasions when his abductor left the apartment, he left the door locked.

The detainee was placed at the disposition of Tortosa's court of guard on July 19 and the judge ordered his release on charges.
